This comic shows how self-driving cars may face complicated moral issues

You've probably heard some of the buzz about the self-piloting cars that Google and other companies are currently developing. The designers of these vehicles face a vast range of complex challenges — including, strangely, some ethical dilemmas that have been troubling philosophers for ages. How should driverless cars behave when they face difficult decisions about how to best protect human lives?

The following comic-style infographic, designed by author Anum Yoon, uses some classic thought experiments from ethics and science fiction to create an accessible and compelling illustration of some of these moral quandaries. (You can see the original post here.) It's a thought-provoking read, whether you're interested in technology, social policy, or ethical philosophy.
